Magistrates’ Court was today evacuated after a fire alarm went off.

Court proceedings were halted for about 15 minutes as court staff and members of the public were ordered out into Court Street.

Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service firefighters arrived just before 11am and checked the Dame Lois building before people were allowed back in.

A fire service representative later said that the court building had a fault in the system and that a technician would repair it.
