Hotel staff donate to charity

Hotel workers have donated more than $30,000 to charity following the closure of their club.

The Princess Staff Club, a sports and social club for Hamilton Princess employees from the 1960s, retired as an organisation after the sole remaining signatory of the account left the hotel.

Cash which had originally been intended to fund social activities has now been donated to four local charities.

In total, $33,300 is being shared between Bermuda Diabetes Association, Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, Salvation Army and the Lady Cubitt Compassionate Association.

Allan Trew, director of community relations at Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, said: “We are delighted that the remaining funds from the Princess Staff Club have been donated to such worthy causes. This is a testament to the generous nature of the employees of Hamilton Princess and Beach Club.”
