HSBC customers angry over transactions delay

A blunder by a bank meant customers were hit this month with transactions from last year.

HSBC customers’ accounts were debited at the start of February for transactions carried out between December 29 last year and January 1.

One woman said on Facebook: “I use the HSBC app, so I didn’t see this notice that’s on their website and only found out when I called to find out what are all the transactions were.

“Don’t want anyone else to be as shocked as I was because I use my card for almost everything.”

A spokeswoman for HSBC said the problem was caused by “technical issues”.

She added: “HSBC Bermuda is waiving the over-limit fees attributed to this issue and will provide enhanced support to clients via our contact centre.

“HSBC Bermuda will make every effort to ensure our customers are not adversely impacted due to the delayed posting of these transactions.”

A message to alert customers to the problem was posted on the bank’s website last week and all customer accounts were said to be up to date on Tuesday.

The spokeswoman apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers.
