Meetings are being held today to finalise arrangements for unloading the Oleander when Hamilton docks closes for repairs later this month.

Barry Brewer, president and chief executive of Neptune Group Management, which manages Bermuda Container Line, said yesterday: “Shortly thereafter we will confirm the port and details.”

West End Development Corporation, which manages Dockyard, confirmed last week that BCL had been in contact.

It was revealed last week that Hamilton docks would close for urgent repairs between March 11 and 18.

Warren Jones, chief executive of Stevedoring Services, said that a number of factors including extra demand for imports during last summer’s America’s Cup and Corporation of Hamilton budget shortfalls meant the dock’s infrastructure had “steadily decayed”.
