The next session of Truth and Reconciliation talks will begin in two weeks.

Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda said its Winter community conversations will finish next week, and the Spring conversations will start the week after.

A spokeswoman said: “The Winter group was the largest to date, with a diverse group of 25 people meeting at the Human Rights Commission. The sessions proved to be challenging and thought-provoking for all involved.”

Two groups will meet in the evenings over a period of seven weeks, on Tuesdays beginning March 27 at the HRC, and on Wednesdays beginning March 28 at Bermuda College.

The spokeswoman said each group will build relationships, grow trust and allow people to share authentically.

She said: “Working together as a community, participants go through a process of learning, sharing and exploring different concepts around race, history and the legacy of trauma.

“Most importantly, we ask our participants to carry this work into their own sphere of influence, while also gaining their input with regard to actions that can be taken at individual, group, community and at a societal level, to bring about a paradigm shift in our society and a process towards healing the harm caused.”
