A Bahamas-flagged cruise ship is due to drop off a “critically ill” passenger this evening.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesman said the Norwegian Jade was expected to arrive off the East End at 7pm to disembark the 73-year-old man.

A medical team will transfer him to shore by pilot boat so that he can be taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The ship will then continue its journey from Miami, Florida, to Ponta Delgada in the Azores.
