Jazzman to headline 2018 Guitar Festival

Renowned jazz guitarist Jake Riechbart

International jazz star Jake Riechbart is to take centre stage at the Bermuda Guitar Festival.

Mr Riechbart, a jazz guitar fingerstyle virtuoso, will perform a concert and host a masterclass on improvisation.

A festival spokesman said: “Mr Riechbart is in very high demand, both for bands and as a soloist.

“He plays everything from jazz standards to his own arrangements of pop and R&B classics.”

The festival will start on May 25 with performances by Tooz Company — a violin and guitar duo featuring LaTannia Ellerbe and Steve Crawford — along with performances by Jerremiah Smith, Steve Crawford and Conor Hay.

The Tooz Company concert will be held at 7.30pm at the AWAC concert room at the Bermuda School of Music on Berkeley Road, Pembroke.

Mr Riechbart’s performance will be at St Andrew’s Church on Church Street, Hamilton, on May 26 and will start at 7.30pm.

He will hold his masterclass at the same venue earlier, between 12.30pm and 2pm.

The festival will end on May 27 with a free student gala concert at 1pm at St Andrews.

Tickets are available at the Bermuda School of Music, Music Box and online at ptix.bm.
