The Department of Immigration reminded British Overseas Territories Citizens’ passport holders today to check their passports before they make travel plans.

Immigration officials said people should not book or confirm travel plans unless they have a valid passport.

They added passports valid for six months or more could be used for travel before there was a requirement to apply for a new passport.

Officials said people could apply for a new passport up to four months before their current one expired.

BOTC passports are now printed in the UK and can take up to six weeks to be issued.

Strict guidelines apply for the processing of temporary passports in cases of emergency.

The BOTC passport application form is online only at www.gov.bm
