Free film screenings from May to August

Hidden Figures will be screened at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute as part of a series of free screenings.

The US Consulate is partnering with the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute to offer free summer film festival throughout May and August.

The public is invited to attend the free matinees on the last Saturday of each month featuring films that cover a range of topics from women in science, ocean conservation, endangered wildlife and American history.

The festival opens on May 26 at BUEI with a screening of Hidden Figures, the story of three brilliant African-American women working at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The visionary trio — Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson — crossed gender and racial lines and inspired generations.

Showtime is at 2pm and seating is on a first come first served. Admission is free but tickets can be reserved for entry at BUEI’s Ocean’s Gift Shop, by calling 292-7219 or online at ptix.bm

The summer film series will continue on June 30, July 28 and August 25 with the titles released during the first week of each month.

More information will be available on the US Consulate and BUEI Facebook and Twitter pages.
