Dignitaries celebrate Portugal Day

Island dignitaries helped the island’s Portuguese people celebrate their national day at the weekend.

David Burt, the Premier, visited the Vasco Da Gama Club in Hamilton on Sunday along with Walter Roban deputy Premier and transport minister, who got into the spirit of the day with clothes in the colours of the Portuguese flag.

John Rankin, the Governor, Michael Weeks, social development and sport minister, Opposition Leader Jeannette Atherden and Father Julio Blazejewski, the Portuguese priest at St Theresa’s Cathedral in Hamilton, also attended and met club president Paul Franco.
