Summer employment: interns are welcomed to the Ministry of Public Works (Photograph supplied)

A team of 37 students has begun summer employment within the various sections of the Ministry of Public Works.

The high school and college students were recruited through the Government’s summer employment programme, a joint effort by the Department of Workforce Development and Community Development.

They were welcomed last week by Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, who discussed opportunities for career development within the students’ fields of interest.

Students will take up work in sections including Estates, Works and Engineering, Parks, the Bermuda Housing Corporation and the West End Development Corporation.

Colonel Burch told them the ministry was keen to help them reach their full potential, and would offer the chance to showcase their talents.
