A teenager was fined $1000 today for his part in a fight outside a Front Street bar.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Psalm Darrell, 18, got into an argument with an unidentified man outside Bistro at the Beach in Hamilton.

He appeared to grab for the man’s neck before he attacked him and then fled the scene on foot

The incident - which was caught on a police CCTV camera - happened about 3am.

Darrell, of Pembroke, admitted a charge of affray.

The incident happened on July 12.

The court heard that police on duty near the bar about 2.25am the next morning recognised Darrell and arrested him.

Darrell told the court that he confronted the man after he gave him money for a drink that he never got.
