St George’s will host a Christmas boat parade for the first time this year.

Organisers want to build on the success of the National Trust’s walkabout, New Year’s Eve party and Santa Claus Parade in the East End.

They called for boat owners to get in touch to take part in the event on December 1. A spokesman for the St George’s Boat Parade Committee said: “The harbour at St George’s is perfect for this kind of event. We expect that ours might start small, but it will grow. We wanted to bring some more Christmas spirit to the Olde Towne and help build on events like the National Trust’s walkabout.

“St George’s is an amazing place and we want to help it do well.”

Commentators will be Jugglin Jason and Bruce Barritt. Vendors in the Town Square include Ashley’s Lemonade, Dandy Donuts, Gina Thompson Face Painting, Gussie Godwin’s Inflatables and Bubbles. Boat owners can e-mail stgeorgesboatparade@gmail.com.
