The Official Gazette will be posted on the Government’s website from November 1.

All government and legal notices, as well as Bermuda regulations, will appear on a new official gazette page on the government website.

Lovitta Foggo, the Minister for the Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform, said the decision to move from newsprint was about modernisation and efficiency. The Government previously said it is expected to save taxpayers more than $300,000 a year.

A government spokeswoman said that some notices may continue to be published on other media outlets “to ensure the widest possible distribution of the content”.

Ms Foggo said: “The shift from using a traditional newspaper for official notices to the use of an online tool that allows access to notices on any mobile device is consistent with Government’s move towards becoming a digital leader. The Government recognises the need to embrace a rapidly changing technological landscape.”

Ms Foggo added: “We are committed to adapting our service delivery to meet the needs of our modern society. This new online Official Gazette allows the Government to fulfil its responsibilities efficiently and effectively. It’s part of a longer-term reform strategy that will see the public benefit from more comprehensive, secure and accessible digital services from the Government.”
