Man arrested after bike chase

A man was arrested on Monday after a lengthy chase in which a police officer sustained a minor injury, a spokesman said.

At about 5,15pm, police were stopped near Christ Church, Warwick, when a man travelled west on Middle Road driving an unregistered scrambler bike.

The vehicle failed to stop after police turned on their siren.

The vehicle was pursued up Khyber Pass, west along Spice Road, and back onto Middle Road via Camp Road, where the man lost control of the cycle near Manse Road in Paget.

The rider shoved his bike into police as they exited their car, striking one officer and causing a small laceration.

After fleeing west on Middle Road, the man gave up running in trees across from Four Ways Inn.

He was then taken into police custody.
