Repairs to start on Devonshire waterworks

Residents and businesses in three parishes will suffer disruption to water supplies as pipe repairs are carried out, the public works ministry has warned.

Work in Devonshire, Smith’s and Hamilton Parish on the replacement and repair of the water mains along Middle Road, Fort Hill Road and Watlington Road East, which provide piped water to the three parishes will need periodic shutdowns of water supply between Tuesdays and Fridays.

Construction is scheduled to start on February 26 and is expected to take about three months to complete.

A ministry spokeswoman said that the ageing water main “has consistently and frequently failed over the past 24 months”.
