Bermuda’s seniors are being invited to put pen to paper as part of a writing workshop, organised by the Bermuda National Library.

The second annual Senior Citizens Workshop series, held in partnership with the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs and the Friends of the Bermuda National Library, will start on April 29.

The free events will be hosted by Florenz Webbe Maxwell, an award-winning local author and the former head of Youth Services at the library.

Space in the workshops is limited, so those over the age of 60 who want to take part are asked to e-mail a writing sample between 250 and 500 words long to kashakir@gov.bm and avstone@gov.bm by April 22.

Lovitta Foggo, the Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sport, urged interested seniors to sign up.

She said: “Our seniors have such a wealth of knowledge to share. We want to encourage them to document their stories through our seniors’ writers workshop.

“We think this is a wonderful way for our community to learn more about our rich and often untold history.”

The workshop series will take place on Mondays and Thursdays. Organisers hope the results will be published in an anthology edited by Ms Maxwell and Kim Dismont-Robinson.
