The International Day of Families and the tenth anniversary of the local community group Family Forum were both marked with a walk across Hamilton yesterday.

Families and friends were invited to join the event, which had the theme “Walking With A Purpose”, from Union Street in the city.

Some supporters carried a banner to promote the cause.

Family Forum was set up as a confidential support circle in 2009 in response to the needs of North Hamilton residents.

It was created by the helping agency Family Centre and Martha Dismont, its executive director, addressed others as she walked with the group yesterday evening.

Monthly Family Forum meetings are held at the charity’s headquarters at Sunshine League House on King Street, Hamilton.
