Mirrors in plea for volunteers

The Mirrors Community Programme is calling for volunteers to help with a six-day Junior Forum SuperCamp for middle school students.

Sixty middle school students at the camp will get a chance to develop socio-emotional skills using neuroscience-based learning techniques developed by the Quantum Learning Network.

Volunteers undergo two days of training in preparation, and receive free professional development training in the Quantum Learning methods and the Eight Keys of Excellence.

Team leaders help to create a supportive atmosphere to encourage students to participate and take risks necessary to grow during camp.

Kathy Lynn Simmons, the Minister of Legal Affairs, said: “Mirrors relies on community volunteers to create the positive, nurturing environment necessary for campers to learn and grow.

“A cornerstone of the organisation is building positive relationships between adults and young people.”

She added: “It’s one of the hallmarks of Mirrors, with proven results shared by both past volunteers and students.”

Training takes place on October 19 and 20. The six-day camp begins on October 21.
