Bermuda’s delivery of aid to the Bahamas, where a humanitarian crisis has been left by Hurricane Dorian, arrived in Nassau on board the HMS Protector yesterday.

Staff on the vessel posted on Twitter: “Our Royal Marines and Royal Navy sailors will fight through the thunderstorms to get these much needed supplies ashore.”

Last night, a swirl of wind and rain, advancing on the islands, was expected to hit the Bahamas to the northwest, where the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama are still reeling from Dorian’s Category 5 impact from September 1 to 3.

It would bring further misery to an area where 70,000 have been left homeless, and roughly 1,300 people were listed yesterday as missing by the Bahamian Government.

The Bermuda Red Cross reported receiving $125,000 so far in donations for Bahamas relief.
