Three Bermuda police officers will travel to the Turks & Caicos Islands next week to help boost the force’s capabilities.The Turks & Caicos Weekly News said the Bermuda Police Service would “lend assistance and investigative support” to the Royal TCI Police Force.Rodney Adams, the Acting Commissioner of Police in Turks & Caicos, said: “These officers will be placed where they are needed the most, and, coupled with our officers working around the clock, will transform the TCI into a place where criminals think twice before breaking the law.”Anya Williams, the Acting Governor of Turks & Caicos, pledged support to the Royal TCI Police Force and thanked the BPS for its assistance.She said: “We express our deepest regret and sympathy to the recent victims of crime in these islands and assure you that this has been given the highest level of our attention. “As we continue our efforts to reduce the incidents of criminality in these islands, we are grateful for the support of our overseas territory colleagues in the Bermuda Police Service that will arrive within the next seven days to provide support to our serious crime investigation team.”The BPS explained that three officers will be deployed after a request was made for specialist constables to help on the archipelago.Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley said: “It is important that we support our colleagues in other British Overseas Territories as we would expect the same of them.“The cost of the BPS officers’ deployment will be met by the Turks and Caicos Islands and the initiative will also give valuable experience to the three officers, which they will bring back to the BPS.”
