Borat costume sparks inquiries

A Borat mankini costume made famous by the actor, Sacha Baron Cohen

A Canadian rugby player caused a stir in Bermuda after photographs and videos of him scantily-clad in public caught the attention of local police. The man became the subject of a police investigation after photographs of him wearing a “Borat”-styled costume at The Swizzle Pub & Restaurant in Warwick circulated over social media.A police spokesman said that the man was dressed in a “Borat” styled costume during a “bright and tight”-themed costume party at the restaurant. He added that the man was not actually naked and that no complaints of obscene activity were made as a result of the function. The spokesman also said: “Those videos and photos did not give any context to what was being shown, so there was nothing to suggest that it was a planned event or a party of any sort.“Based off of the concern of members of the public who saw those videos and photos, the police followed up with the establishment.”It is understood the man was a Canadian rugby player who was on the island for the World Rugby Classic. I sincerely apologise if anyone was offended.”Jonathan Goldie, the coach for the Canadian National Rugby Team, could not be reached for comment.
