High tides could bring flooding to some low-lying areas of Bermuda tomorrow, the national security minister warned yesterday.Wayne Caines, Minister of National Security, said flooding was likely between Sunday and November 28.Mr Caines explained higher than normal spring tides could cause flooding in vulnerable areas.He said: “In the interest of public safety, I encourage homeowners and businesses in areas prone to flooding, to take the necessary precautions to secure and protect their property and belongings from damage.”Mr Caines added: “The public will recall in October 2017, when unusually high tides flooded low-lying areas around the island. “In particular, King’s Square, Kindley Field Road, and LF Wade International Airport in St George’s experienced significant flooding.” Mr Caines said that people who had parked vehicles in low-lying areas such as the airport should move them to avoid the risk of flood damage.For more information, visit the Bermuda Weather Service website or the US-based National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website.
