Mothers of disabled children are to get a Christmas treat this weekend. The charity, A New Life, has joined up with the Brio Studio hair and beauty salon in Devonshire to honour 30 mothers with “a day of beauty and pampering”.LaKiesha Wolffe, head of the charity, said the event was to show “appreciation for the mothers that stuck by their children, knowing that they will be faced with some super-hard challenges with their children — and already knowing the battles that life brings us on any given day”.She added: “These moms are like superheroes to their children.”Ms Wolffe said all mothers were heroes in her eyes because “being a mom is a struggle all the time”.The day of relaxation will offer mothers the chance to “mingle and share stories while getting pampered”, she said — with refreshments served.“We always want to give to the children and, of course, we should help them, but we never truly say thank you to the team and the support system that helps these children,” Ms Wolffe said.Anyone who would like to sponsor a mother can reach A New Life at 292-5570, extension 224, or at 703-9912.Donations to the charity can be sent to Butterfield account 0604002420010.The salon day is also sponsored by MS Amlin, Sacred Gifts, the Bermuda Road Safety Council, BGA, Orchid Nail Spa, the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and Butterfield & Vallis.
