A New Year’s Eve celebration staged by the City of Hamilton was a “resounding success”, a spokesman said today. Dwayne Caines, the secretary and chief operating officer at City Hall, said that the light show projected on to the building had been a “visual experience unlike any other ever staged in Bermuda”. He added: “We had the opportunity to say goodbye to 2019 and bring in a new decade in fine style.“The event from start to finish was a resounding success and the level of detail was truly amazing.”Mr Caines said that it was good to see the event backed by the public and that more than 5,000 people watched the show at the height of the night. He added: “We are acutely aware of all of the hard work that goes into such an event and as such I am thankful to everyone who played a role in the night’s success. “The community was gifted with a memory that will live on in the hearts and minds and for that I am truly grateful. “As a team we showed our island what can be done when we work together and believe. “There was no better way to bring in the 225th year of democratic governance and leadership in the City of Hamilton.”Mr Caines thanked all those who had played a part in the success of the event.
