The relicensing deadline for commercial fishing boats has been extended to the end of next month, the Government has announced. A spokesman for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources said the new cut-off date was April 30.He explained the department was closed to walk-in customers, including for fishing licences, and that safety inspections for commercial fishing vessels had been suspended. The spokesman said on Tuesday: “The spiny lobster and guinea chick trap fisheries will conclude at the end of their normal season today.The spokesman added: “All traps must be out of the water on this date.”He added that staff from marine resources would contact fishermen to discuss the inspection and storage of traps. • Anyone with questions should call 293-5600 or e-mail fisheries@gov.bm
