Top people in national security are in an online chat this afternoon designed to give guidance on the “shelter in place” regulations due to take effect on Saturday.Wayne Caines, the Minister of National Security, and Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley said that restaurant home deliveries will be halted and that more information will be given later today on grocery deliveries.Mr Caines said some exceptions will be made, but around 530 different organisations had already requested exemptions.Mr Corbishley warned that not all who have applied will be accepted.He said: “People should prepare to be disappointed. We only need critical services on the road.“We want to work with people, but there is a line in the sand.”Mr Caines added that the Ministry had fielded a range of requests for exemptions, including for caregivers, cleaners and nannies.He said: “The nanny, or the carer or the home giver might have to move in with your family for the two weeks if you want their services.”Mr Caines said in co-parenting cases, one parent may have to care for children for the next two weeks.He said: “We ask families to talk about this among themselves, bring in a mediator if necessary, but whoever’s home the child will be in as of Saturday morning, the children should shelter in place with that parent for the next two weeks.”The Minister said he will also request that the Bermuda Hospitals Board and private dialysis providers to give a list of who needs dialysis and when to ease the process.Mr Caines told the public that if they leave the house, they should bring identification and be prepared to be questioned at community advisory points.He advised that those who are except should also carry work ID, wear their uniforms or bring a letter to confirm their excemption.Mr Caines added pet stores will be closed, but staff would be able to make sure any animals at the store were fed.The event was streamed live on the Government Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/BermudaGovernment/.
