Missing woman’s mother makes public appeal
The mother of a woman missing for more than two weeks appealed to the public to help locate her daughter yesterday.
Rose Belboda said: “If anybody knows about her whereabouts, could you please contact my family members or the police.”
Chavelle Dillon-Burgess, 26, who has an 18-month-old baby, was last seen at her home on Hillview Road, Warwick, two weeks ago.
Acting Superintendent Arthur Glasford said that Ms Dillon-Burgess was reported missing on April 30.
He added that police were concerned for her safety.
Mr Glasford said: “It is highly uncommon for Chavelle to not make contact with her loved ones and close friends.”
Mr Glasford said that police had carried out a search for Ms Dillon-Burgess over the weekend.
He added: “The police response remains focused, robust and co-ordinated and has consisted of social-media appeals for sightings, organised search groups, use of drones and CCTV.”
Mr Glasford said that missing person flyers would be posted around the island from today.
He added that shelter-in-place regulations had not made it impossible to trace missing people.
Mr Glasford explained: “We had enough of a police resource and regiment resource out there to still be on the lookout.”
But he said the relaxation of strict shelter-in-place rules last Saturday would aid the search for Ms Dillon-Burgess.
Mr Glasford added: “There are more people out and about now, with businesses being back open.
“Hopefully, more eyes will be on the roads and the streets to help us locate her.”
Ms Dillon-Burgess was said to be 5ft 4in, slim and brown-skinned.
Anyone with information that could help the inquiry should contact police at 247-1624 or the confidential Crime Stoppers service on 800-8477.
