Bermuda has no active cases of Covid-19 after two patients with the disease recovered, the Ministry of Health announced last night.Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, added that 185 new coronavirus tests had come back and all were clear.She said: “I am delighted to be able to say that there are no longer any known active cases of Covid-19 in Bermuda. “This has been an extraordinary journey involving a lot of sweat, blood and tears by a lot of people directly involved in the fight against the coronavirus.”Ms Wilson said that none of the airline passengers who arrived in Bermuda yesterday had tested positive for the coronavirus. She said: “I’m certain this was helped by the pre-departure testing that visitors are required to undertake. “Of the 115 passengers on yesterday’s flight, 88 had pre-departure tests. “The arrival test provides a further screening to ensure that we identify any new cases early and isolate them immediately.”But Ms Wilson warned that no active Covid-19 cases did not mean the island should let its guard down.She said: “I want to urge everyone to please keep wearing your masks and stay six feet apart. “We need to do this now more than ever in case there are any unknown asymptomatic carriers of Covid-19 still in Bermuda.”Bermuda has recorded 146 people with Covid-19, with nine deaths and 137 people recovered.The average age of cases was 60 and the age range was 18 to 101.The average age of fatalities was 74 with an age range of 57 to 91.A total of 42 came in from overseas, 85 were the result of local transmissions from a known source and 16 were local transmissions from an unknown source and three are under investigation.Bermuda’s country status remained at “local transmission — sporadic cases” and the seven-day average of the real-time reproduction number is below 1.
