Bob Richards, the Minister of Finance, has told the House of Assembly that the Bermuda is “far ahead of the curve” in the field of corporate transparency.

Mr Richards provided MPs with a breakdown of his trip to London for the British Prime Minister’s Anti Corruption Summit.

“We made it unmistakably clear that Bermuda will adhere to the new standard when it is truly a global one, ie when all nations, including those that have financial centres, commit to and actually implement it,” he said.

“We made it clear that we do not support double standards that allow those dominant countries that make the rules to have lower standards than smaller countries that are required to abide by these rules.

“There must be a level playing field.”
