House: solar power for National Museum

Grant Gibbons, economic development minister

A proposed solar power system in Dockyard for the America’s Cup would be left for the National Museum after the races finish, MPs heard this morning.

The proposal comes from Low Carbon, a corporate sponsor of the Land Rover BAR UK Team.

Grant Gibbons, the Minister of Economic Development, gave the details as part of his statement to the House of Assembly on his trip to Chicago for the third event in 2016 of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series.

That event drew more than 200,000 spectators over three days, during which “Bermuda and Bermuda sponsors were highly visible”, Dr Gibbons said.

The photovoltaic unit proposed for Dockyard could be in the region of 60 kilowatts, he added, responding to questions from the Opposition.
