The new Minister of Finance is to outline refinancing part of the Government’s $2.42 billion debt in the House of Assembly today.

Curtis Dickinson is said to have secured a deal at a favourable rate of interest as one of his first acts as minister.

Zane DeSilva, the Minister of Tourism and Transport, will also open the debate on the Bermuda Tourism Authority Amendment Act.

Mr DeSilva has wrangled with Opposition MPs over the legislation, which gives the minister additional powers over the appointment of board members to the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

He will also discuss a simmering dispute between the Government and Bermuda Skyport, which took over management of the airport in 2017 under a 30-year concession agreement.

The two sides have squared off over who should foot the bill for revenue guarantees to airlines — a longstanding practice where the Government pays out millions to attract and retain airline services.

Wayne Caines, the Minister of National Security, will update the House on efforts to tackle gang violence.

David Burt, the Premier, will speak about a trip to Britain scheduled for next week, when the UK’s decision to quit the European Union and its possible repercussions for Bermuda will come up for discussion.

Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, will outline extra grants allocated to Bermuda College.
