RenRe announce finance team promotions

company moves: RenRe has announced two promotions within its finance team, and the departure of Mark Wilcox, chief accounting officer, at the end of the year

James Fraser is to replace Mark Wilcox as chief accounting officer at RenaissanceRe Holdings.

After 13 years with the company, Mr Wilcox is to return to the US to pursue an opportunity outside of RenRe.

His successor, Mr Fraser, will take on responsibilities for forecasting, planning and analysis; controls, financial reporting and tax. The change will be effective on December 31.

Helen James is also being promoted. She has been named senior vice-president, global corporate controller, and will take on the corporate controller role that was performed by Mr Wilcox.

Kevin O’Donnell, chief executive officer, said: “The promotions of Jamie and Helen reflect the considerable breadth and depth of our bench of executive talent. Both are long-tenured employees, strong leaders and talented professionals.”

He added: “We are also grateful to Mark for his contributions to RenaissanceRe’s success over the past 13 years in his roles as chief accounting officer, corporate controller and, previously, internal auditor. We wish him the best going forward.”

Robert Qutub, chief financial officer, said that in the course of his first months at RenRe he had been impressed with the calibre of the entire finance team.

He said: “The move of Jamie and Helen into these important roles demonstrates how the strength of our existing capabilities will allow us to leverage the strategic value of finance as we go forward.”

Mr Fraser joined the company in 2009 and has served as head of internal audit since 2011. His has held leadership positions in finance and risk management at RenRe, XL Capital and Deloitte. His appointment is subject to Immigration Department approval.

Ms James joined the company in 2001, and since 2013 has been senior vice-president and controller for the company’s ventures unit.
