BDA produces captives video

Jereme Ramsay of the BDA

A series of new webcasts is to highlight the island’s attractions as a home for captive insurers.

The Bermuda Business Development Agency videos are to be released over the next four weeks and are designed to show major corporations of all industries what captives do and how they can be used as self-insurance vehicles to cut costs and manage risks.

Jereme Ramsay, business development manager for the BDA, said: “We’re always looking for new ways to keep our potential new business as well as our industry partners engaged and well-informed about Bermuda’s captive insurance solutions.

“The webcasts will highlight topics that companies should consider, along with top trends in the captive insurance space.”

He added that the new videos are aimed at medium to large companies in North America who are exploring self insurance as part of their risk management programmes.

Mr Ramsay said Bermuda continued to offer cost-effective solutions in a blue chip jurisdiction — a message digital platforms can take to a huge worldwide audience.

The BDA has created a total of eight webinars on the same subject over the past two years.

Mr Ramsay said: “We are constantly looking to leverage fresh methods and channels to showcase Bermuda’s top tier industry talent to both new business and existing clients and webcasts are an ideal way to do this.”

Participants in the BDA webcasts include Grainne Richmond, president of the Bermuda Insurance Management Association, David Gibbons, chairman of the Bermuda Captive Conference, Sophia Greaves, a director at law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman and Melissa Morton, assistant director of licensing and authorisations at the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

The first video, now up on the BDA’s website, features Ms Richmond and an overview of Bermuda’s advantages as a domicile for captive insurance.
