Arch’s Iordanou rings Nasdaq opening bell

Celebration: Dinos Iordanou, Arch's capital's chairman and CEO, rings the opening bell at the Nasdaq, surrounded by company colleagues

Arch Capital Group Ltd’s chairman yesterday rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq Stock Exchange in New York.

Dinos Iordanou, who is also the Bermudian re/insurer’s chief executive officer, sounded the bell to resume trading at the exchange while surrounded by dozens of company colleagues.

The exchange invited the company to the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square in celebration of the closing of Arch’s $3.4 billion deal to acquire United Guaranty Corporation, a US mortgage insurer.

Arch, one of a group of companies to set up in Bermuda after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001, has a market capitalisation of $11.4 billion.
