Networking event adds a twist

Meeting and greeting: there was an added twist to a student networking event held by the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (Photograph supplied)

Bermudian students who are focused on careers in Bermuda insurance industry had an opportunity to hone their networking skills at the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies end of summer networking party.

Over 65 BFIS scholars, alumni, trustees, committee members and other undergraduates spent a couple hours networking at the eighth annual summer party held in the lobby of the Aon building.

Aon sponsors the BFIS Mentor Network programme through the Aon Rhondelle Tankard Memorial Foundation. BFIS donor companies’ summer student interns were also invited.

The BFIS mentor network committee added a twist to the event with a conversation challenge, by giving each student the name tag of an insurance professional and each professional a student’s name tag. All the attendees then had to find whose name tag they had through talking to people.

One student said: “It was a great experience, it being my first networking event and I thought the ‘random name tag switch’ idea was executed perfectly. I met so many great people, students and professionals alike! I look forward to participating in more events”.
