The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers has added Ascot Reinsurance Company Limited as a member of its board.

Abir has also created the Abir Broker Advisory Cabinet with representatives from Aon, Guy Carpenter and Willis Towers Watson.

Kevin O’Donnell, Abir chairman, who is also chief executive officer of RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd, speaking of John Berger joining the board on behalf of Ascot re, said: “Ascot Re is an excellent addition to the Abir board. We are confident that Ascot Re will contribute significantly to our collective efforts of continuing to build Bermuda’s global insurance market.”

Ascot Re’s application for membership of Abir was approved last month.

Separately, Abir has created a re/insurance broker membership programme. It said the Abir Broker Advisory Cabinet allows for a simultaneous relationship and collaborative efforts among Bermuda’s leading insurers, reinsurers and brokers.

The inaugural members of the cabinet are Lara Mowery of Guy Carpenter; Tony Fox of Aon; and Chris McDowell of Willis Towers Watson.
