A number of senior figures from Lloyd’s of London will take part in a market briefing event in Bermuda today.

The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers has teamed up with Lloyd’s to host a “Lloyd’s Market Briefing”.

The event will feature insights from Lloyd’s chairman Bruce Carnegie-Brown. He will be joined by Jon Hancock, director of performance management of Lloyd’s.

Comments will also be provided by Albert Benchimol, chief executive officer of Axis Capital, chairman of Abir chairman, and external member of the Lloyd’s Council, and Fiona Luck, a Bermuda market veteran and a non-executive director of the Lloyd’s franchise board.

In a statement, Abir said that with Brexit on the horizon, a newly appointed chief executive, John Neal and a focused strategic review envisioned for the Lloyd’s market, the briefing will be a real-time discussion of the most critical issues of the day. The event is open to Bermuda’s re/insurance market community and stakeholders, however, availability for seating is limited, with preference given to Abir company members.

“We’re inviting industry partners and stakeholders to join us in this special briefing, bringing together leaders from the world’s two most significant re/insurance markets,” said John Huff, Abir president and CEO. “This will be a year of significant change in the re/insurance sector and the briefing will be a good road map for the industry.”

The event will be held from 3.30pm to 5pm in Hamilton, followed by a closing reception.

“Over the past 25 years, Abir and Lloyd’s have worked well together while leveraging technical expertise and relationships to build upon a strong foundation between the markets,” said Mr Benchimol. “Abir members and the Bermuda market generally have provided more than 35 per cent of capacity for Lloyd’s of London.”

Meanwhile, Mr Carnegie-Brown, said: “I look forward to meeting with Abir members, and the Bermuda market generally, to discuss the issues of the day in London and our strategic focus at Lloyd’s.”
