Bermudian-based insurer and reinsurer Hamilton Re Ltd is inviting applications for admission to its 2020 summer intern programme.It is for students entering their junior year of university, and it offers the opportunity to spend eight to ten weeks gaining introductory experience in a variety of insurance and reinsurance functions, including underwriting, finance and catastrophe modelling, the company said. The programme is entering its sixth year.Kathleen Reardon, chief executive officer of Hamilton Re, said: “This programme has become something that everyone at Hamilton looks forward to. The academic excellence and committed work ethic of the students who join us each summer are truly impressive, making us very hopeful about the quality of Bermuda’s future workforce.”She added: “For the students, we believe the programme is a wonderful opportunity to see first-hand the many different career options that the insurance and reinsurance industry offers.”Brianna Mendes and Amon Wedderburn were the successful candidates for Hamilton’s 2019 programme. Ms Mendes is studying commerce and mathematics at McGill University in Montreal, while Mr Wedderburn is completing a degree in risk management and insurance at St John’s University in New York, the company said.
