Hundreds of runners and walkers are expected to line up for the tenth annual Bacardi 8K road race and walk on Sunday.

Since it was first held in 2007, the event has proven to be one of the most popular on the road race calendar.

Chris Estwanik, who is continuing his comeback from injury, and Nikki Butterfield are the reigning men's and women's champions, respectively.

The Bacardi 8K is noted for its ambience, which includes a post-race complimentary light breakfast and awards ceremony. The age group prize categories extend to a “Grand Master” section for runners aged 60 and over.

The eight-kilometre course — almost five miles — starts and finishes at the Bacardi headquarters on Pitts Bay Road.

Competitors will head west along Pitts Bay Road, on to St John's Road and turning around near Spanish Point Park, returning via North Shore Road, Berkeley Road, St John's Road and Pitts Bay Road.

Entries for the race are now being accepted online at www.racedayworld.com.

Race numbers can be collected at the Bacardi HQ on Saturday between 9am and noon. Late entries can also be made at race number pick-up, but not on race day.
