Dale Eve, the Bermuda goalkeeper, could be reunited with his former colleagues at Dandy Town.

The 21-year old player has been linked with a potential return to the club where he honed his skills before being signed by Barclay’s Premier League team Stoke City.

Jomar Wilkinson, the Hornets coach, could not be reached for comment yesterday. However, several reliable club sources strongly suggested that Eve’s return to his former club is imminent.

The former Town youth player initially signed a one-year deal at Stoke which was extended for another two years as reward after a string of impressive performances for the club’s under-21s.

The 6tf 4in goalkeeper also had loan spells with Fleetwood Town, Nuneaton Town, Newcastle Town and Congleton before being released by the Premier League side.

He signed for Forest Green Rovers, of the Vanarama National League, in February of this year after his departure from the Brittania Stadium.

Eve had previously had a spell on loan at Forest Green, who play in the fourth tier of the English game, in October, appearing in the televised 2-1 victory away to Margate in the FA Cup fourth-round qualifying match

However, he asked to leave the club before the end of last season as he was frustrated at his lack of playing time, and has contemplated a move to a Major League Soccer team.

The player came in for criticism this summer from Andrew Bascome, the former national coach, after making himself unavailable for Bermuda’s Caribbean Cup decider away to French Guiana because he felt the trip was a “fool’s errand”.

Bermuda needed a victory to keep their hopes alive of advancing to the third round of the competition, but came unstuck against a superior side and were beaten 3-0.

Rather than playing, Eve opted instead to attend the Bermuda Heroes Weekend Carnival where photographs of himself partying emerged on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Town, who are unbeaten in their first two outings of the new season, return to action tomorrow when they face PHC Zebras in the remaining Dudley Eve group A contest at Police Field, with both teams already through to the semi-finals of the competition.

The match pitting Town against PHC will kick off at 3pm and will be followed by the remaining Dudley Eve group B match featuring North Village and Robin Hood to commence at 5pm.

Village have already qualified for the last four while it remains to be seen whether they will be joined by either Hood or Cougars.
