Lewis on the scoresheet

Flying into Fury: Lewis scored Red Bulls II’s first goal

Zeiko Lewis scored in New York Red Bulls II’s 2-2 draw away to Ottawa Fury in front of a season-high crowd of 7,780 at TD Place at the weekend.

The Bermuda winger, who has been farmed out to New York Red Bulls’ reserve team for the season, netted his second goal of the campaign in the 61st minute.

Lewis, 22, came on as a 37th-minute substitute for the injured Douglas Martínez.

Red Bulls II were denied the three points after Jamar Dixon headed home in the fourth minute of stoppage time gave Ottawa a share of the spoils.

Ottawa took the lead after six minutes when Ryan Williams met Sito Seoane’s floated cross to the back post with a crisp volley.

Red Bulls II earned their equaliser just past the hour-mark, as a low cross by Justin Bilyeu found Lewis who made no mistake with a powerful strike.

A minute later the visiting side took the lead as Bezecourt played in Brandon Allen for his eighth goal of the season.

However, Dixon’s late heroics left Fury’s fans elated.

Red Bulls II are eleventh in the Eastern Conference of the United Soccer League.
