X-Roads 3 Robin Hood 3X-Roads battled to savage a point against Robin Hood at Garrison Field yesterday. With Hood dominating in the second half, X-Roads coach Larry Smith made two substitutions to pave the way for a fight back after they faced a two-goal deficit with 28 minutes remaining.“Both teams were getting tired, so I thought I’d bring on some fresh legs,” Smith said. “We wanted to pressure their right side, which we did and scored two goals.”Jez Burrows almost gifted Hood the opening goal when his clearance went directly to Temiko Goater who controlled and struck a volley which the goalkeeper did well to recover.X-Roads opened the scoring somewhat against the run of play. Striker Donavan Thompson slipped a pass to Paul Simons who outmuscled Jaylon Bather before shooting into the roof of the net. Hood equalised before the interval when X-Roads captain Kijuan Wilkinson conceded a needless free kick, which Justin Corday slammed into the right corner of the goal.Chae Brangman and Goater combined to give Hood a 2-1 lead, with the latter being brought down inside the box by Jamin Furbert as he turned and headed for goal. Brangman had to retake his initial penalty as he scored with an illegal run-up after feinting. He then planted his effort to the right of Burrows. Hood made it 3-1 a minute later when substitute Aaron Nelson stabbed past the advancing Burrows. X-Roads refused to give up as sub Jorge Sanchez’s first touch found Thompson who outran his defender to score past Eve.
