Eve signs for Spennymoor
Bermuda goalkeeper Dale Eve has signed a deal with Vanarama National League North side Spennymoor Town.
The 25-year-old, who has previous experience in England with Stoke City, Forest Green Rovers and Fleetwood Town, left Robin Hood to try and pursue opportunities in England.
Having spent a number of weeks training with Town, who play in the sixth tier of English football, Eve earned himself a deal until the end of the season.
Tommy Miller, Town’s assistant manager, spoke of his delight at securing the services of Eve.
“Dale has trained with us the last few weeks and has done very well,” he said. “He has played for the Bermudan national team and has been highly recommended to us, and with other clubs chasing his signature from higher divisions, we are delighted he has decided to join us for the rest of the season.
“He adds competition to the goalkeepers we already have in the squad and he is looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
The club are seventh in the table with 48 points after 30 games after a 3-2 win at home to Altrincham tonight. Eve could make his debut away to Southport on Saturday.
Shaun Goater, who coached Eve at non-League Ilkeston in 2017, believes he has the ability to be a success in the English game.
“Congratulations @SpennymoorTown you’ve signed a player with huge potential and he’s been brilliant with the Bermuda national team over the past 2 yrs,” he tweeted. “He’s got the credentials to go much higher, just know you’ve got a brilliant talent. Good luck @DaleEve95.”
