Devwah Whaley rushed for 32 yards on 11 carries as the Arkansas Razorbacks fell to a disappointing 28-7 defeat at home to Texas Christian on Saturday.

Bermudian running back Whaley was largely kept in check by a resolute Horned Frogs defence in a loss to the No 23 team in the nation that puts added pressure on head coach Bret Bielema.

David Williams rushed for 65 yards on ten carries for Arkansas, but it was a desperately disappointing display for the Razorbacks.

Arkansas were held to only 267 yards of total offence, with quarterback Austin Allen completing only nine of 23 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown as the Razorbacks failed to score a point in the second half. Kicker Cole Hedlund had a day to forget too, missing chip-shot field goals of 23 and 20 yards

“I wish I had words to describe the way I feel and the way our guys feel,” Bielema said. “We’ve got to be the most improved team in the country and get a lot better at the details.”

TCU took the lead on Sewo Olonilua’s one-yard run early in the first quarter, but Arkansas hit back with Allen’s 49-yard touchdown pass for Jonathan Nance with 8:15 remaining in the period.

However, Kyle Hicks scored on a four-yard TD run with 7:39 left in the first half and the Horned Frogs added touchdown runs from Darius Anderson, a 14-yarder, and a 13-yarder from Olonilua late in the game to seal their victory.

The Razorbacks have their lone off week of the season next week before returning against Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on September 23.
