Kirk claims top honours
Adam Kirk claimed a comfortable victory in the Male Open category in the fifth race of the Fat Tire Massive Series in Southlands, Warwick, at the weekend.
Kirk finished in 1min 06:31ec, more than a 1˝ minutes ahead of runner-up Jeff Currie, a visitor from New Brunswick, Canada, who completed the course, which snaked through in the banyan tree grove on the boarder of South Shore Road, in 1:08:03.
Currie beat Hans Hirschi, who came third in 1:08:04, by half a wheel. Zina Jones secured victory in the Female Novice Class division in 33:46, with Jessica Gibbons coming second in 35:45. In the 12-and-under category, seven riders took on a smaller version of the course, with Marc Piney claiming the honours in 15:18 and Zariah Outerbridge placing second in 16:15. Christian Piney came third in 16:48.
