Phillips advances to final
Daniel Phillips has reached the final of the Rafa Nadal Tour Under-14 Tennis Tournament in Barcelona.
The 14-year-old defeated Mateo Alvarez Sarmiento 6-2, 6-1 in the semi-final and will meet Miguel Avendaño Cadena in the final today.
Phillips has chalked up wins against Danil Mishchanin, Bernardo Munk Mesa and Jordi Moure Carreras. He also claimed successive victories in the qualifying round to reach the main draw, beating Guillermo Sanchis and Ivan Formin. Phillips bowed out of the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre in Seville, Spain, in the second round in February.
