Darrell just misses a medal

So close: Darrell finished fourth in his high jump event

Elisha Darrell came close to adding to Bermuda’s medal count on the final day of the 46th Flow Carifta Games in Curaçao yesterday.

Darrell just missed out on a spot on the podium after finishing fourth in the boys under-20 high jump which was won by D’Andre Mitcham of the British Virgin Islands.

If it was any consolation, the promising jumper’s best leap of 2.11 metres was a personal best.

Also setting a personal best on the final day of the championships was middle distance runner Aaron Jacobs who placed seventh in the boys under-18 800 metre final in 1:59.37.

Bermuda also reached the final of the boys under-18 4x400 metre relay, finishing fifth.

Bermuda finished at the bottom of the medal table with two bronze won by Sakari Famous in the under-18 high jump and Tiara DeRosa in the under-20 discus.

Famous’s bronze was her third straight and fifth overall at these Games having won silver at the 2014 and 2015 Games in Martinique and Bahamas.

The Berkeley Institute student has medalled at every Carifta she has competed in and won Bermuda’s only medal at last year’s event in Grenada.
