Deneo Brangman set a personal best, but missed out on qualifying for the final after finishing fourth in his boys 400 metres heat at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau, Bahamas.

Brangman finished in a time of 49.52sec after coming into the competition with a PB of 49.77. This marks the first time that Brangman has consistently ran under the 50-second barrier throughout the season.

Canada’s Vaughn Taylor finished first in 48.40, with Colby Jennings, of Turks and Caicos Islands, second in 48.43. Muhammad Suhaimi, of Malaysia, was fourth in 48.68. “Deneo is a very well rounded student athlete, having returned from the United Nations Global Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. all while maintaining high academic honours attending CedarBridge Academy,” Bermuda National Athletics Association head coach DeVon Bean said. “Deneo is an excellent example of hard work, sacrifice and dedication combining together becoming the well-versed young man that he aspires to be.”

n The Bermuda girls rugby sevens team finished sixth in the games, after losing their fifth-sixth place match to Trinidad and Tobago 29-0.
