Bermudian wheelchair racer Jessica Lewis enjoyed a memorable outing at the 2019 Canadian Track and Field Championships at the Claude Robillard Sports Complex, in Montreal, Quebec.

Competing over three days, Lewis secured two first-place finishes and a further two third-place finishes to cap a successful championships.

Her first victory came in the T34-53-54 200-metre event, with Lewis taking top honours, crossing the line in a winning time of 33.31 seconds, ahead of Nadini Sharma, in 34.05 and Katty Abran in 34.31.

Refusing to rest on her laurels, Lewis secured her second first-place finish on the second day of the competition in the T34-52-53 100-metre event, in a winning time of 16.75 secs, ahead of Ilana Dupont, who finished in 17.59, with Jessica Frotyten completing the top three, in 17.82.

There were also strong performances in the T34-53 400 Metres and T53-54 800 metres, with Lewis winning bronze in both events in times of, 1min 03.99secs and 2:03.18, respectively.

Taking to social media site Instagram, Lewis could not hide her delight with her performances.

“The last few days here in Montreal brought some awesome racing at the 2019 Canadian Track and Field Championships!,” she said. “I accomplished the goals Coach Curtis and I set out for this meet and so glad to come away with some of the best tactical races I’ve done.”
